If you think the Prado has all the world's masterpieces, think again. Since 1992 the spectacular collection of Baron Thyssen-Bornemisza has hung on the Thyssen museum's pink walls.
The collection at Thyssen is wide ranging and includes Old Masters like van Eyck and Duccio, Impressionists such as Monet, Cézanne, Degas and van Gogh, right through to modern masterpieces by Picasso, Hockney and Hopper. A whole year of visits wouldn't do the collection justice.
