When a Madrid nobleman wanted to make an impression, they would go to the Real Fábrica de Tapices - a factory commissioned by the Spanish government, Spanish Royal Family, and the Vatican - to purchase the lavish tapestries that adorned the walls of their palaces and private residences. As such, the factory was highly profitable and has continued to be so for the past three centuries. It is said that Spain alone has accumulated four million of these exquisite pieces.
