Parque Juan Carlos I is a monstrous park in the West of Madrid characterized by a vast circuit of waterways, gardens, exercise areas, and cycling or walking paths. This is perhaps Madrid's best green space for getting away from the wildness of the city.
The park offers a fantastic view of the distant Guadarrama Mountains. Olive and oak trees here offer ample shade from the hot Spanish sun in Summer, but other flora are young growth and unimpressive. Still, the park is a great place for a picnic with the family or a stroll with a lover.
