Description

Site of coronations and weddings throughout history

Claustro de San Jerónimo el Real is also known as Los Jerónimos. The church is a place where once kings and queens sought refuge, Spanish parliaments were sworn in, and where Alfonso XIII was married. Dating back to the 16th century, the site is one of the most beautiful in the city.

It is here King Juan Carlos I was proclaimed King of Spain. A more historic site you will have a hard time finding than this. Inside you will find famous works of art by the likes of Carducho and Jose Mendez, and Juan de Mena's 18th-century Cristo de la Buena Muerte. The church's history and beauty make it well worth a visit.
